As part of the #aplaceforme campaign, Development Director at Lendlease, Edward Mayes speaks about his experience so far and what he has learned during his time at Lendlease.
Lendlease believes that the decisions and actions of senior team members should create a positive legacy throughout the business and inspire individuals to create their own path to change. It is important that leaders act as positive role models to others within their organisation. At Lendlease they believe that an open culture of communication is necessary in order for leaders and teams to work together effectively; this starts with regular conversations such as team talks and meetings.

Is Lendlease full of opportunity?
Edward speaks about the opportunities that he has had to develop both himself and his career during his time at Lendlease, such as going on courses and study visits, both inside and outside of the UK in order to increase his management skills and to see best practise in urban design. These exciting opportunities are just one of the ways that Lendlease encourages its employees to grow and learn in their own personal development, as well as benefitting the development of the business.
What inspires you at Lendlease?
Edward said: “Lendlease empowers me to do what I want in my career. It’s more than just about making money, it’s about making a fundamental change in people’s lives.”
Edward speaks about how the work that he does at Lendlease surrounds making changes in cities in order to make them better for the individuals who live and work within them. He also speaks about how urban design is not just about what we see on the surface, it is also about individuals’ jobs, health and wellbeing; this factor of his work is what drives Edward and inspires him at Lendlease.
Edward says that Lendlease is a place for him because they empower him to do what he wants in his career.
