Dementia Friendly Awards 2016

Dementia Friendly Awards 2016

The Dementia Friendly Awards are announcing the winners for 2016 in a ceremony being held at Church House, London tomorrow.

The Dementia Friendly Awards are an annual celebration, which recognises the work of individuals, organisations, projects and partnerships in creating safe, friendly and supportive communities for people with dementia across the UK.

Now in their third year, the awards recognise everyone, from volunteers to carers to hairdressers and hospitals; schools and sports clubs to community groups and corporations. This year, they received a record 400 nominations, which were chosen by people with dementia and their carers, as well as a judging panel of industry experts. Eight groups of services users have reviewed and ranked nominations, alongside the shortlists made by judges. The scores from both of these stages were then added together for each nomination and both stages carry the same weight.
