DSN’s very own Erica Jones and Danny Wakefield have successfully completed the Employee Champion training in support of the Time to Change campaign.
Statistics state that one in four of us will experience mental health problems at some point in our life and nine in ten say they have faced negative treatment from others as a result, which is something we’re working hard to change with our group sessions and internal support systems.
The Time to Change campaign is a growing movement of people striving to change the perception of mental health. Over 480 organisations have now signed the employer pledge – including DSN – and we’re committed to help change the way people suffering from mental health issues can broach these subjects at work.
Staff and volunteers have received training to enhance their everyday mental wellbeing and after the success of the Time to Talk Day event at Chester Deaf Club, ongoing initiatives will run throughout the rest of the year.
CEO, Bob Birchall, said: “Time to change is all about challenging stigma and ending discrimination around mental health. As an organisation, we are passionate about building a safe environment and it is vital that we maintain an open dialogue about mental health.
“We’re proud to support the campaign and look forward to upholding our pledge with your help.”
We’re continually on the look out for Volunteers and Trustees to join the Time to Change programme, so if you would like to learn more, contact Kirstin McCallum now!
