Tell us a bit about yourself?
I joined the Which? People Team back in 2016 as a temp after travelling around for a year and a half. I managed to secure a fixed term contract and then moved to a permanent position as a People Coordinator. So what started out as a six week sabbatical cover, ended with me being a very permanent fixture in the People Team!
I was really lucky to have a supportive team that helped me work towards becoming Senior Coordinator, HR Adviser and now a People Partner. There have been many opportunities to contribute to or lead on interesting work that’s helped me develop and grow in the HR space.
Which? has also supported me in completing my level 5 CIPD and currently I’m working towards an ILM coaching qualification.
What are some accomplishments you're proud of?
I’m really proud that Which? has invested more in wellbeing since leading on this work, we now have more funds to run workshops and initiatives that help support all our wellbeing. We’ve also invested in managers mental health training which is currently being rolled out remotely.
Whilst appreciating we’re not quite there yet, I think a lot of the wellbeing work has helped conversations happen that may have previously felt taboo or awkward. I’d like to hope that more people feel comfortable about asking for help when they need it and are more aware of the range of resources and services available. One recent example of this is a menopause awareness session that took place in January. Running this session has encouraged people to seek the support they need and has generally helped us talk about a topic that previously we haven’t spoken about openly at Which?.
I’d also like to add that all the support I’ve received from individuals around wellbeing has been great and has helped get us to where we are now. From Dan and Natalie in internal comms, to our Feel Good Champions, the People Centre and subject experts like Shefalee, they’ve all helped shape or deliver the wellbeing offering for all of us at Which?.
What are some upcoming activities you are excited about?
I’m really excited about all the work Which? is doing around diversity and inclusion, particularly the actions Which? is taking to challenge attitudes towards disability, increase understanding, remove barriers and look at how we attract, recruit and retain disabled workers.
