CGI are helping break the silence around Mental Health
Category: Employer Focus
As the next stage in our successful Mental Health programme, and in time for World Mental Health Day on October 10, CGI has signed up to Mind’s ‘Time to Change’ pledge. This is to demonstrate our commitment to breaking the silence and ending the stigma surrounding mental health. One in four of us will be experiencing a mental health problem at any one time, yet though this is so common, 90% of people who have experienced a mental health problem have faced negative treatment from others as a result. Time to Change is England’s biggest programme to challenge mental health stigma and discrimination and is run by the charities Mind and Rethink Mental Illness
In order to sign the Pledge, we had to submit an action plan detailing what we are doing to counter mental health discrimination in the workplace and ensure that our members can access any support they need, These actions include building our network of Mental Health First Aiders, promoting our Member Assistance Programme, providing resilience training for members, and offering webinars on related topics. We have also encouraged members to share personal experiences through blogs and more of these are welcome.
