For the third year in a row, Capgemini has again been named in The Stonewall Top 100 Employers list
This year, a record 503 organisations submitted entries to Stonewall’s Workplace Equality Index 2019, an annual audit of workplace culture for lesbian, gay, bi and trans staff and the definitive benchmarking tool for employers to measure their progress on LGBT+ inclusion in the workplace. The best performing employers have been revealed, and Capgemini has featured in the index for the third consecutive year, featuring at number 55, This year Capgemini has moved up 5 places in the ranking, over the previous year.
Paul Margetts, Managing Director of the UK Business Unit, commented: “We are extremely proud to see Capgemini not only feature on the Stonewall Top 100 Employers list once again but continue to progress up the ranking. This reflects the fantastic work of our LGBT+ network OUTfront, who have been raising awareness and driving greater action across our organisation for over ten years. This recognition is great motivation as we continue to drive an inclusive culture at Capgemini.”
As part of the Top 100, Stonewall collected close to 110,000 responses from employees on their experience of Britain’s workplace culture and diversity. This year, 81 per cent of LGBT employees who responded to the survey said they feel able to be themselves in the workplace.
Tom Dodson, OUTfront Network Co-Chair, commented: “This award reflects the great work of both OUTfront and Capgemini more widely, and would not have been possible without the support of our colleagues and senior sponsors. Looking ahead, we will continue to inform, educate and engage all staff to ensure everyone can feel included, respected, and able to achieve their full potential.”
Sanjay Sood-Smith, Stonewall’s Executive Director of Workplace & Community Programmes, said: ‘We are delighted to name Capgemini as one of our Top 100 Employers this year. All the organisations in this year’s Top 100 Employer’s list are playing a huge role in improving the lives of LGBT people and should be very proud of their work. We still don’t live in a world where everyone is able to be themselves in the workplace, as we know more than a third of LGBT staff (35 per cent) hide who they are at work. By taking steps to make their workplaces supportive and welcoming of all lesbian, gay, bi and trans people, businesses like Capgemini are bringing us closer to a world where everyone is accepted without exception.’
Stonewall’s Top 100 index is compiled from submissions to the Workplace Equality Index, a powerful benchmarking tool used by organisations to assess their achievements and progress on LGBT+ equality in the workplace, as well as their wider work in the community and on service provision. Each organisation must demonstrate their expertise in 10 areas of employment policy and practice, including networking groups, senior leadership, procurement and how well they’ve engaged with LGBT+ communities.
