C&I Diversity Week and Conference
C&I Trust launched its first ever Diversity Week at the end of last year, to celebrate and champion diversity within the Trust.
Many inspiring local events happened during the week including:
Authentic ethnic dishes served each day of the week, to service users and staff at both St Pancras and Highgate sites.
The Nubian Users Forum organised a Black History Month and World Mental Health Event. Speakers included Ulanah Morris (Tutor from C&I Recovery College) and Patrick Vernon (NED).
Staff wore their ethnic/cultural traditional dress to work.
Diversity Conference hosted by Network for Change (BME Staff Network). 73 attendees signed the register. Our Chair Leisha Fullick opened the Conference.
We heard from guest speakers, Dame Donna Kinnair (Director of Nursing, Policy & Practice at RCN), Dr Habib Naqvi (Workforce Race Equality Standard Policy Lead, NHS England) and Wellington Makala (Deputy Director Mental Health Acute Services and BME Ambassador at North East London Foundation Trust).
The Panel discussion was led by Sandra McGhee (Head of Occupational Therapy & Art Therapy) and Conference was closed by Sally Quinn (Director of Human Resources & Organisational Development.
The C&I Diversity & Inclusion Conference gave us the opportunity to focus on collaboration, innovation and the role played by diversity and inclusion in achieving this. Verbal feedback was positive and a work plan from the panel discussion is to be developed.
