Meet Maï 

My name is Maï, I’m 24 years old and I’m French, with roots in Brittany and Ivory Coast! I joined the company in August 2021 and I’m almost now at the end of my Global Management Traineeship (GMT) training. What a way of kick-starting my career! I did four completely different projects that taught me a lot about our business and our company. 

During my first project, I built the Trade Marketing plan for one of our exciting innovations for the summer of 2022, and then I worked along with a GMT in Belgium on the creation of a PowerBI dashboard to tackle penalties in the Logistics department. Then I did a project with 2 GMTs from Italy and the UK in our Direct-to-consumer department where we had to improve the forecasting model of Perfect Draft consumers. 

Now I’m in my next-to-last project working with the People team on a Diversity & Inclusion project!

 

Diverse teams = winning business 

As much as you love your company and the products you sell, I believe that the people that surround you are more important and this is ultimately what will make your stay. A company where everyone feels included, valued and worthy of sharing their ideas is so important for both employees and the company.

I still think we can do more, particularly in attracting, developing, and retaining people from every underrepresented group.

 

Local Diversity and Inclusion initiative in our BNFL business unit 

One of my objectives is to give a new framework for our Employee Resource Groups (ERGs) which are employee-led groups that aim at fostering a diverse and inclusive workplace. Usually, those ERGs gather people that share common characteristics and create a safe place where employees can bring their whole selves to the table and discuss topics related to D&I, may that be about gender, age, race disability, or being a working parent… More than a safe place for discussion, ERGs are also a forum where employees create initiatives and events internally or externally and they can change the status quo by having an impact on the company policies! 

Today we have most of our employees who work in the field. They face a different reality than people in our headquarters and thus they can have a different way of approaching D&I, which we also have to take into consideration. For this reason, along with the People Team and D&I Ambassadors, we recently launched a survey targeting this population to understand where their vision and expectations of D&I, what they would like to see more in the company and how we could integrate them more. We have to make sure that every employee feels listened to and included. As an example, people in the field often don’t have the possibility of attending D&I Zoom meetings during the day. Some of them don’t speak enough English to follow and participate in those meetings. So we have to find a solution to integrate them into our D&I routines.

Our purpose is to dream big to create a future of more cheers – and a world of more cheers can only be a more equal world. We know we have an important role to play in championing diversity and inclusion within AB InBev, as well as beyond it. Why? Because our greatest strength is our people, and we support every individual to excel.
