BT Graduate: Mitali Gohel features in DofE film

One of our graduates, Mitali Gohel, was filmed as part of a careers series by the Department of Education to talk about her journey with BT. The video was added to the national curriculum for all 13-14 year olds in the UK and aims to encourage people to consider a technology based career.

Having come from a business background at university and, by her own admission, having never picked up a coding book in her life, Mitali might not be what you expect from a graduate on a technology programme, but as she says herself “being in the technology industry doesn’t mean you need to be technical”. Mitali has been involved in leading the Gender Equality Network at BT and encouraging people into STEM careers from both business and technical backgrounds.

Mitali was on a rotation working as a Project Manager within the network division, looking at engagement strategy helping to shape the future of the organisation. It was a really people orientated role with new challenges everyday – which was exciting.

And Mitali has some great advice for girls and women considering a technology career “you are your own limitation, you can do anything you want to do if you have the right mind set. You have to listen to your heart and you have to make things happen for yourself and there is no such thing as the right path, you make your own path”.
