BEIS are proud to have received the award for one of the BITC Top Employers for Race. BEIS is one of 70 employers included in the 2018 listing, which recognises good practice on workplace race equality and inclusion and celebrates the public and private sector organisations making a difference in this area.
Race being one of our top priorities has meant we have worked incredibly hard to implement changes as a department - for our staff and the public we serve. With many thanks to the support of our FAME Network we are proud to have been recognised for good practice on workplace race equality.
Chairs of our FAME (Faith and Minority Ethnic) Network said,
"We’re delighted that BEIS has been recognised as one of the best employers for race. A large thanks must go to our members who have tirelessly worked towards our objective of making BEIS Race and Faith Confident. Clearly there is still plenty more work to do, and we will look closely at BITC’s recommendations on how we can further improve. We look forward to working with HR and the wider Department to achieve these goals for next year.”
Permanent Secretary Alex Chisholm said:
“I am delighted that BEIS has been recognised for a second year on the Business in the Community Best Employers for Race List. BEIS is committed to being a role model for business and the Civil Service, and to making BEIS a great place to work. There is of course still more to be done on workplace race equality and inclusion but I would like to congratulate everyone involved in this work so far, including HR colleagues and the Faith and Minority Ethnic Network.”
