In the past I have written about age discrimination, now it is a case of people having to work longer in order to pay the bills.

Those who have grandchildren may find that they are either looking after elderly relatives or grandchildren, this was highlighted in an article in the paper.

It also said that two thirds of adults who are employed are between 50 and 67. This number will rise as the state pension age will rise.

There may also be the conception that they are slower but that is discrimination, so therefore what is being encouraged is more flexibility in the workplace, whereby these people are able to help the family.

There is also the misconception that older people are not technology minded and so therefore wouldn't be able to work in an office environment.

While people are getting older they are having to learn about new technology as it is appearing more and more in our homes. So there is the need for employers to consider this as the skills are there, waiting to be used and also the years of experience in the workforce.
