Within Atkins, one of the biggest journeys they are currently on is to become a fully diverse and inclusive business and, therefore, provide a more inclusive culture for all of their employees.
Atkins is one of the world’s most respected design, engineering and project management consultancies. They build long-term trusted partnerships to create a world where lives are enriched through the implementation of their ideas. Their strength lies in the breadth and depth of their technical expertise, which enables them to provide practical solutions to the most complex challenges for clients in a wide range of sectors.
Atkins is a people business. They’re successful because they offer their clients diverse skills and experience, plus they know that their ability to attract talented people and encourage them to stay is as much about the working environment they create as it is about the amazing projects they work on.
Therefore, they have created a number of staff led internal networking groups to help create that supportive environment. Their LGBT+ network was one of the first groups to be established and is open to any Atkins employee who identifies with, supports or is connected to the lesbian, gay, bisexual and trans (LGBT) community.
The group is really flourishing, so, as part of LGBT History Month, Atkins is hosting an official launch with an internal event at the Institute of Civil Engineers next week. They will be sharing photos after the event, so keep an eye out for more details on this celebration of diversity.
