A member of the SNC-Lavalin group, Atkins, got honoured with an award at the Oil & Gas UK Awards. The Atkins team received the Diversity and Inclusiveness Award at the annual ceremony that took place in Aberdeen after prevailing over the opponents in the competition.
The promotion and cognition of the value of inclusive behaviours and diverse teams to motivate better results in business within firms is commemorated with the Oil & Gas UK Diversity and Inclusiveness Award 2017. Atkins received the accolade due to its newfangled look at how the existing and the future staff in its Energy business can actualise the capacity of their input to Atkins and its clients. They took a fresh look at their business approach by making it based on strength rather than competency. It helped them to improve the inclusiveness inside the company and successfully draw more diverse prospects to fulfill its openings.
Market director, offshore & onshore, Les Newman, said that this award is a recognition of the efforts put in together by the groups across Energy and in Aberdeen for making Atkins an absolute inclusive workplace. According to him, this was possible after initiating a strength-based approach to the development of the workforce, and increasing their understanding of the issues related to diversity, as a consequence of working with Stonewall. He further added that they were all realistic in their approach and he think there is still a lot to achieve, however, some effective measures have been taken in the right course. Also, they have an important role to play in progressing the industry towards a more informed and sustainable future.
