Aon was the primary sponsor of the “Girls – Count Us In” event with the Institute and Faculty of Actuaries. The event was held on 10th October at Staple Inn Hall, High Holborn, London. The event was targeted at girls who were interested in pursuing a career in STEM and therefore potentially a career as an actuary. This was the first event in a series of events the Institute and Faculty of Actuaries will be holding over the next year to promote diversity in the profession. The IFoA pride themselves on the huge number of roles that their members take working as actuaries. From working with pensions and insurance, to climate change, Artificial Intelligence (AI), cybercrime and health care. With only 24% of female graduates moving into STEM careers the IFoA want to use these events to show girls how they can use their interests, skills and knowledge to make an impact in the world of work; also how companies will support them in their career and what the challenges they will face during this journey.
