On Tuesday 7th March Allianz are joining forces with Lloyd's and seven other insurance companies in the UK to celebrate International Women’s Day 2017.
The event, called “Olympic Golden Couple Kate and Helen – what can the insurance market learn from them” is open to everyone across the 9 companies. British hockey stars Kate and Helen Richardson-Walsh will be leading an interactive discussion at the event based around creating a culture that enables high performing teams, navigating through tough times and developing resilience and exercising influence as role models.
The sell-out event will focus on linking women’s success in sports and business. It will discuss the lessons from the couple’s experience and how the values of teamwork, diversity and inclusion can be transferred to the insurance industry.
Kate Richardson-Walsh said of the event: “We are delighted to be invited to talk to these influential groups who are leading the way in the insurance market. We hope our insights into our success on the pitch will help women striving for equality and also help the industry know that same-sex couples are a normal part of the fabric of society.”
Both Allianz and Lloyd’s have been working to promote diversity and inclusion in the insurance industry and Lloyd’s CEO Inga Beale explained: “I want Lloyd’s and the wider market to be a place where women know they can be themselves and succeed based on their talent and ability. This event shows how we can be successful when we accept people for what they bring to the team and by extension, to the workplace.”
At Allianz, women make up 45% of the workforce in the UK and hold 31% of management positions. Allianz support female high potentials to develop their careers through sponsorship and mentoring and in 2013, Allianz Group was one of the Fortune Global 200 companies with the highest percentage of female board directors.
