5 Minutes With... Wayland

5 Minutes With... Wayland

Wayland is a graduate with a 2:1 in Physics and a blogger here at VERCIDA. Despite his background in Physics, Wayland is enthusiastic about Politics and Economics. He has written several books on his opinions around the economic and political affairs. As an Aspergers Syndrome Sufferer, Wayland is 28, well qualified, yet struggling to find a job. He will share his experiences as we support through his job hunt.

When I first started looking for a job... it was two years ago and I decided to pursue a career in writing and journalism. After two years of working on several books I have decided to start looking again for a formal job.

I am motivated towards getting a job because... I want to be able to earn a living as well as having another purpose when I am not writing.

I think that the main reason I am still seeking a job is... that I haven't been looking in the right place. The economy in recent years has also not been creating many new jobs and there are many people looking for jobs.

Money... is just paper. You want to invest in things that have real value, i.e. property, land and gold.

Happiness to me is... achieving in life what you set out to achieve.

My proudest achievement is... in the future. I have yet to achieve something that I can genuinely be proud of.

If I was self-sufficient... I would be living in my own home and surviving on my own income.

My purpose in life... is to learn about politics and to express my opinion by promoting the intellectual case against statism.

I'm passionate... about political writing.

If an actor was to star in a movie of my life... I probably won't have heard of them and I'd be surprised that they wanted to play me!

The fault of the current job market... is too much regulation. Employers are afraid to take on school and university leavers with no experience because it will be difficult to fire them if they turn out to be no good.

My life would improve if... I could sell many copies of my books.

On a normal day I... get up at 9am and I spend the day writing. I go to bed at 12pm.

My ideal job... would be to work as a political writer.
