Womens Strategy Group at Evolve Housing + Support

We have a Women’s Strategy Group which was established in 2020, this is open for colleagues, customers and peers/volunteers to join. The group meets monthly to discuss ways we can improve services for women, whilst organising events and workshops for women to participate in. One of our successful events was a virtual pamper party, attended by 25 customers, ten members of staff and several influential women for our local community. The Women’s Strategy Group have also worked with two national charities – Hey Girl and Callaly to help to eliminate period poverty within our services. Every customer at our services now have access to free sanitary products, a commitment that we have pledged to continue indefinitely. We have also used our meetings to inform our own learning about issues that impact women’s lives, by inviting guest speakers to share their knowledge and expertise on a range of subjects including Restorative Justice, Visualisation and Domestic Violence.

We’ve also established a DAHA (Domestic Abuse Housing Alliance) group to improve and develop our approach to domestic abuse for colleagues and customers. The group is made up of colleagues from across the organisations and will work towards accreditation over the next 18 months.

In 2020 we invited colleagues and customers on our systems to self-identify their gender to improve the accuracy of our data and become more inclusive of different gender identities.
