Cultural Inclusion is about inviting people to come together and meaningfully contribute to make our workplace a diverse and inclusive space for all races, cultures, nationalities and religions. It’s about creating opportunities, challenging stereotypes, learning, valuing and celebrating our differences.
The Cultural Inclusion Network sponsored by Elsa Chen, Chief Customer Officer, comprises of a representative group of employees from across CityFibre. The network’s objectives are to:
- Create an inclusive culture where our differences are acknowledged, respected and celebrated - togetherness, not sameness
- Cultivate a sense of belonging for people of all cultures – be your whole self at work
- Provide a safe space for people of all backgrounds to seek support and challenge poor behaviours
- Identify and respond to matters in support of equality
- Promote a zero-tolerance approach to Racism in the workplace including indirect or inadvertent racism. Be proudly anti-racist and not just non-racist
To achieve the network’s objectives, we’re working in four steering groups, each one focused on key activities to promote Cultural Inclusion at CityFibre.
Data & Insights
This steering group is designed to actively encourage and promote every opportunity within CityFibre to focus a lens on ethnicity representation in our key business activities that have influences on how we recruit, retain and progress diversity across workforce at all levels.
They champion the importance of data collection and request relevant data analysis to identify actionable insights that we will use to communicate and drive proactive actions.
Cultural Diversity Awareness
This steering group is focused on bringing awareness to different cultures within our business, celebrating our differences and similarities, creating opportunity of engagement with colleagues from different backgrounds, and creating a safe place for all colleagues to be respectfully curious and ask questions.
Hear Your Say
This group’s objective is to open a conversation with CityFibre employees that want to express their questions, concerns or queries relating to cultural inclusion, and support them.
Unconscious Bias
Bias, Dialogue, Action
We invite everyone who wants to explore unconscious bias to do this reflection privately, publicly or both! We want to create a safe talking space for this work, inside CityFibre, and encourage conversations about complexity that breaks down stereotypes.
If we can recognise unconscious bias in ourselves and others, we can do something to address it.
All employees across CityFibre from all different backgrounds are welcome to join the conversation on Cultural Inclusion.
Supporting our Muslim colleagues and educating our managers. This is the approach we have encouraged.
