Training and Development at Northumbria University

Onboarding tasks include mandatory training, providing a prompt for all new starters to complete their training (including EDI Mandatory Training) as a priority when they arrive.

As part of our learning offer, Northumbria provides a range of training, guidance and resources relating to equality, diversity and inclusion. 'EDI Learn' is the hub on our staff intranet for all of this information. Sessions offered regularly to colleagues include Reasonable Adjustments training, Equality Impact Assessments, and Introduction to Inclusive Language.

Equality-related leadership programmes are supported including those for women, for colleagues from Black, Asian and Minority Ethnic Backgrounds, and for LGBTQ+ individuals.

We also run sessions throughout the year to foster a sense of inclusion, to mark key dates and address key issues.
