About the role
The mission of the team is to drive the vision of Automation to build smart manufacturing across the Belgium sites, by leading the definition and application of Automation Smart Manufacturing Strategy. The team provide dedicated expertise, standardisation and specification to support automation operations & projects. They support the right sequencing, prioritization and delivery of advanced automation projects for Wavre, Rixensart and Gembloux to ensure that all systems, equipment, and facilities are properly interconnected, maintained, safe, reliable and compliant with GAMP.

As head of Smart Manufacturing Engineering in Process Control Engineering, you will be responsible for leading the strategy and implementation of smart manufacturing initiatives within manufacturing unit. Your role will be to integrate emerging technologies within automation architecture and automation roadmap to improve operational efficiency, product quality and overall production profitability. You will drive the automation transformation of our manufacturing process, overseeing teams, identifying opportunities for improvement and ensuring effective adoption of smart technologies to guarantee an end-to-end result of the smart manufacturing technologies.

About the responsibilities
  • Lead and drive the definition of automation smart manufacturing strategy aligned with strategic objectives of Wavre, Rixensart and Gembloux sites
  • Recruit, train and motivate staff to ensure automation resources and skillset meet smart manufacturing initiatives demands, providing technical coaching and training plans as required
  • Evaluate, select and deploy new technologies to optimise production processes. Ensure end-to-end efficiency of the solutions
  • Working collaboratively with internal and external partners of automation to integrate new automation technologies (Global Automation, Tech / GMSAT, LMSAT,...)
  • Ensure end-to-end data architecture, standardisation and guidance
  • Provide production analysis data to identify areas for improvement and data-driven solutions
  • Implement quality and safety standards to ensure regulatory compliance and product quality
  • Develop capabilities to adopt new technologies and intelligent processes in order to meet strategic objectives for Wavre, Rixensart and Gembloux sites
  • Manage the budget allocated to smart manufacturing projects and monitor costs
  • Develop and manage the support model for the new automation technologies
  • Drive project definition and execution as SME and discipline engineers

About you
  • 10 years of engineering experience in the pharmaceutical industry
  • Strong networking, influencing and negotiation skills to engage a broad community of multi-departmental stakeholders
  • Highly effective communication skills at multi-levels
  • Strong leadership skills, ability to develop long term approach and overall asses the whole automation performance
  • Ability to handle multiple issues and effectively prioritize
  • Fluent in French and English
  • Decision-making abilities
  • Manage complexity and deliver long term benefits for the company
  • Able to act as Head of Automation Development deputy with full autonomy
  • Able to attract, recruit, develop and motivate his automation talent pool
  • Positive, Autonomous & solution-oriented
