Job purpose:

As CI Lead of Transversal Experts you drive sitewide impact on high priority 'step change' projects, complex Six Sigma problem solving and ensure sitewide alignment of the GPS standards.

This role requires expert level of Six Sigma capability and expert level of leadership to influence and develop Lean and Six Sigma capability in senior leaders across a matrix organisation of circa 5600 people.

You are accountable for the,
  • Delivery of sitewide improvement initiatives based their technical knowledge and demonstrated OE mastery
  • CI Capability Strategy and deployment plan in line with industry best practice
  • rapid and appropriate allocation of Transversal CI Experts to 'step change and 'site critical' improvement initiatives.
  • ROI of CI Experts and the contribution to the GIO/Q strategic objectives and key performance indicators (e.g. Safety, Quality, Delivery, Cost, etc.)
  • Financial impact realized by the CI Transversal Experts
  • Alignment of the Belgian site with the Global standards
  • Alignment across all areas on the Belgian site

Your responsibilities:

Leadership
  • Direct management of CI Experts for Belgian site
  • Matrix leadership at senior level
  • Drive external and internal benchmarking via industry connections

Strategy Deployment Process for GIO/Q Belgium
  • Deploy 'best in class' Strategy Deployment Process (Hoshin) on site
  • Align the deployment of CI resources and GI/Q strategic objectives and site critical improvement initiatives
  • Deliver strategic 'step change' projects part of the Belgian Site Hoshin

CI Capability Strategy
  • Deliver 'best in class' CI Ecosystem (Six Sigma and Lean)
  • Define, deploy and monitor the CI Capability Strategy and corresponding roadmap
  • Monitor both efficiency (e.g. Belt certification lead time) and impact (e.g. Belt activity level) of the Capability Building processes
  • Lead the Six Sigma network on site: orange, green and black belts Circa 400 people. They will be accountable for the continuous development, certification and delivery of this network.

Complex Problem Solving
  • Resolve the most complex level of problem solves in Belgium and support the highest level of escalations via the Global Operations and Quality Leadership Team.
  • Develop and lead a team of highly capable complex problem solvers via technical mastery
  • Accountable for results of rapid response program in Belgium
  • Accountable for CI Ecosystem and delivery of associated targets

GPS Standards
  • Own the GPS standards on the Belgium Site and associated progress
  • Deliver systematic GPS maturity progression

Additional information:
  • This role reports into the Head of Continuous Improvement Belgium Operations
  • Level of role: Director
  • Direct and indirect reports: around 20
  • Business travel requirements: limited (less than 10%)
  • Expected presence onsite: ideally 3 days/week
  • Primary location: Wavre, Belgium

Why You?

Basic Qualifications:

We are looking for professionals with these required skills to achieve our goals:
  • Minimum Bachelors / Honours degree, or equivalent, in science or engineering discipline
  • Minimum 8 years of experience in Operational Excellence in a manufacturing environment or industries such as Pharma, Consumer, Food, Automotive and FMCG
  • Six Sigma Black Belt
  • Lean Black Belt
  • Held a number of leadership positions in a manufacturing environment covering a broad range of activities and operations (e.g. Production, Engineering, Quality, Supply Chain, Safety)
  • Ability to deliver significant financial, organisational and productivity impacts in a complex global business
  • Ability to demonstrate an advanced knowledge and understanding of Six Sigma and its application
  • Leadership skills - stakeholders management, communication, influence, negotiation, networking, etc.
  • People management experience
  • Fluency in spoken and written French (must have).

Preferred Qualifications:

If you have the following characteristics, it would be a plus:
  • Master's degree / university level
  • Master Black Belt / Lean Master qualification
  • Strong leadership, scientific and business acumen, and ability to manage multiple priorities, timelines and ensure compliance to all GSK policies
  • Demonstrated leadership of Continuous Improvement initiatives and cultural change year on year resulting in both financial and non-financial benefit and behavioural change
  • Diagnostic capability to identify improvement opportunities
  • Excellent communication skills and influencing abilities at all levels in the organisation
  • Capable of providing and acting on balanced feedback to develop self and others
  • Demonstrated ability to work effectively across a matrix environment and navigate without formal authority to deliver on business results.
