Race at work charter

At Virgin Money, we passionately believe all our colleagues should be able to bring 100% of who they are to work. We’re proud that diversity and inclusion are at the heart of our culture, but we also know it’s not enough to simply say it. We need to act and show we mean it.

That’s why we have signed up to the Business in the Community Race at Work Charter. It’s a small step, but one that helps articulate our bold ambitions and holds us accountable.

What is the Charter?

The Charter details five calls to action for leaders and organisations across the UK. By signing up, we’re committing to take practical steps to tackle the barriers ethnic minority people face. These include recruitment and progression to make sure we’re representative of British society today. The calls to action are:

  1. Appoint an executive sponsor
  2. Capture ethnicity data and publicise progress
  3. Commit at Board level to zero tolerance for bullying and harassment
  4. Make clear that supporting equality in the workplace is the responsibility of all leaders and managers
  5. Take action that supports ethnic minority career progression
