ONR is a disability confident employer and already did, for example, lots of STEM outreach work but a breakthrough for its progress on Equality, Diversity and Inclusion was the realisation that those issues were not just something for the HR department, the small number of women inspectors, or the small number of ethnic minority staff.

Examples of this in action include:

• Our Guaranteed Interview Scheme offering candidates with a disability who meet the minimum criteria for a role an interview. Since the introduction our new recruitment system with improved tracking we can confirm that around 80% of candidates using this scheme went on to secure the job role.
• Supporting staff in managing their disabilities or health conditions, to make sure workplace adjustments are in place where needed, providing occupational health and employee assistance programmes, and benefitting from our membership of disability organisation Purple.
• Promoting the importance of accessibility with the introduction of Equality Impact Assessments, plus our Accessibility Policy supported by the Accessibility Hub, Accessibility Training and updated Style Guide.
• On-going promotion of awareness days to remind colleagues of what is available to support them throughout the year including training.
• Accessibility Working Group

The reaccreditation is a result of the dedication, passion, and hard work of colleagues from across the organisation, particularly those members of the Diversity & Inclusion Group, and Accessibility Working Group who alongside our senior leaders are committed to strengthening our inclusive culture.
