Corporate Social Responsibility at Brit

Charitable giving is an essential aspect of the holiday season, as it allows us to support those in need and make a positive difference in our communities and beyond. Every year, we give our teams the chance to nominate a charity at the end of the year to receive an initial donation of £10,000 and a share in any money raised by Brit employees and the Social Committee throughout this year.

Whizz-Kidz bring Morph to London in 2023!

Whizz-Kidz is a charity which empowers young wheelchair users and, this summer, they’re running a step-free Morph sculpture trail in the City of London to increase public awareness about the need for young wheelchair users to be mobile, enabled and included in society.

As part of the campaign, and to mark Pride Month, we're proud to be sponsoring the Pride Morph which you'll be able to find outside of our offices at the Leadenhall Building.

Matthew Harding Football Cup - 2023

At the end of May we were back at the Richmond Athletic Ground for the Matthew Harding Football Cup, where we’re not only sponsoring the event but have sent in some of the best athletes at Brit to compete for the cup!

The annual Lloyd's Football Five A Side Tournament is a brilliant chance for people across the insurance industry to gather and engage in some light-hearted rivalry on the pitch. Congratulations to everyone who's played so far today, and thanks to all who have come down to support.

Lloyd's 7s tournament and Netball Cup – 2023

Our teams took part in the Lloyd's 7s tournament and Netball Cup this year, and what a day of intense competition and sportsmanship it was.

The Brit rugby team achieved their best result in 20 years, winning against Hiscox and PRO and narrowly losing to Aventum Avengers. In the Bowl competition, they defeated TMK and Millers. The Brit netball team displayed exceptional skills, narrowly missing a victory against Willis and AON. They secured a convincing 12-4 victory against DWF Law. Despite their impressive performances, both teams narrowly missed reaching the semi-finals.

We’re pleased to have now selected ten brilliant charities focused on a variety of important societal causes, from homelessness and victim support to childhood cancer and hospice care.

Our charitable efforts help many people far and wide; take some of the young people from Kibera in Kenya for example. Kibera is a vast slum in the suburbs of Nairobi, home to 400,000 people. It has no running water, no waste disposal and the education system is virtually non-existent.

We support children with Brit funds.

The most inspirational team in motorsport

Team BRIT is back for 2023!

We’re especially thrilled to see Bobby Trundley and Aaron Morgan returning to the McLaren driving seat, after a fantastic season last year. The pair, along with the entire team of drivers at Team BRIT, have worked tirelessly to change the face of motorsport and inspire us to consider what’s possible.

We began our partnership with Team BRIT in 2017. We knew it was the perfect fit. They are a competitive motor racing team and like us, their aim is to seize the potential of the future. They’ve never looked back.

Team BRIT drivers are disabled. They race against able-bodied drivers on a level playing field. Many are ex or serving military troops with serious physical and mental injuries. The team is an offshoot of KartForce, an organisation set up to inspire people with disabilities, PTSD and mental health issues, by demonstrating what can be achieved through motorsport.

Through TEAM BRIT, injured military personnel can achieve what they never thought possible; to compete again at the highest level, and to gain personal and professional skills through understanding the motorsport business.

OUR ENVIRONMENTAL IMPACT

There are many futures besides your own that you will impact when you work at Brit. The Earth’s future, for one. What it will be like in centuries to come, no one knows for certain. But we can say for sure, is that we are doing our best to protect it.  

Our sustainability initiatives make a real difference. With our partner ClimateCare, we are offsetting carbon emissions generated by our employees’ air travel and bringing better cookstoves to people in Africa. Through the LifeStraw project, we’ve also brought safe drinking water to over 4 million people in Kenya.

We’ve made changes to our own workplace too, by recycling metal and plastic to reduce landfill and reducing our food waste.

We are proud to be part of the consortium working towards a Standard for Environmental Risk and Insurance (SERI). This represents our commitment to a climate positive future in the industry and we regularly take part in conferences and discussions held by the team at Icebreaker One.
