Armed Forces Network at O2

We’ve always championed the importance of inclusivity here at O2. That’s why we made a public commitment in December 2017 to support those who serve or have served, together with their families. We became the 2000th signatory of the Armed Forces Covenant.

This significant government milestone recognises O2 as a service-friendly organisation, but more importantly it formalises our commitment to supporting either those in or transitioning out of the military.

The covenant was co-signed by our CEO Mark Evans and the Rt Hon Gavin Williamson MP, Secretary of State for Defence, alongside a small number our reservist and veteran employees at special ceremony this morning. It enshrines the measures we have in place to make sure that members of the armed forces can meet their service obligations. They include:

An additional 10 days paid leave to Reservists to help meet their commitments to the Reserve Forces
Offering flexibility for granting leave to Service spouses and partners before, during and after deployment
Offering Service men, women and their families commercial fairness by suspending their O2 accounts in the event of deployment overseas
Our armed forces make a huge contribution to our society and as a responsible business it’s only right that we support them in the best way that we can. So alongside the covenant, we aim to create an open and inclusive culture where everyone feels empowered to come to work and be themselves. Our employees are a major part of our brand and the best advocates of the products and services that we offer to our customers. It’s not just the right thing to do, it makes good business sense too.
