And the winners are ...
Our award winners are chosen by our thousands of candidates, based on their interactions with that employer brand through Vercida.com. During 2023, the British Library was the most popular employer by a substantial margin amongst our diverse candidates. Their employer profile out performed all others in terms of popularity and engagement.
During 2023 specific roles advertised by Tesco were enjoyed the highest candidate conversion rates across all of our employers. From the inclusive language used in the job descriptions to the broad range of inclusive features offered by Tesco's, we're proud to award the team at Tesco with the 'Best Diverse Job Ads'
We reviewed over 2 million candidate interactions with employer content and scored each employer based on how engaging candidates found their articles. HS2 received the highest score for their diversity content, employee stories and overall coverage of their diversity initiatives
The candidate and employee content created by the Disclosure and Barring Service for their disability employee network, disability awareness and their work as a Disability Confident employer was a clear winner this year. They received 63% more candidate engagement with their disability-focused employer content than the employer in second place. Well done to the team at DBS for their ongoing commitment as a Disability Advocate.
Our winner has established faith networks for their Buddhist, Christian, Jewish, Hindu, Sikh, Humanist, Secular, Pagan, Muslim, and Rastafari employees. From live panels with speakers representing different Faith communities talking about their lived experiences; sessions around mentoring and developing future leaders as well as sessions on how to be an ally and the value of allyship within diversity and inclusion, the Ministry of Defence received almost 100% more engagement with their Faith related content than the other shortlisted employers. Congratulations on leading the way.

Our shortlisted employers for this category had many impressive initiatives and candidate campaigns specific to age inclusion. Our winner, Aviva, actively celebrates the five generations of employees who make up their workforce, reflecting the customers they serve within their teams. Their mid-life MOT and generations community within Aviva helped make them the candidates voice for age inclusion Advocate this year.
Our winner of People's choice for parenting and carers provides equal parental leave (in the UK this is offered at 12 month, with full pay for 6 months) as well as an extra half day of paid leave when a child starts at a new school. This, combined with offering employees who are also carers up to 70 hours of paid carer’s leave per year in the UK, secured their position as the Number 1 candidate choice for Parents and Carers Advocate.
All of our shortlisted organisations should be applauded but two stood out in particular for the way they understood their target demographic and created an initiative that serviced their employees, the business, and the wider community. These were Lloyd’s for their Inclusive Futures initiative and Sainsbury’s for their Thrive with Sainsbury’s initiatives.
Lloyd's Inclusive Futures is a comprehensive programme of initiatives to help Black and ethnically diverse individuals participate, progress, and prosper from the classroom to the boardroom.
Thrive with Sainsbury’s is a free 16-week programme with a £1 million commitment to supporting Black founder-led food and drink brands on their journey from start-up to supermarket shelves.
I'm delighted to award the Vercida Best Newcomer award to Bromford. Since partnering with Vercida in 2023 we have seen their candidate engagement scores steadily improving and they have achieved some impressive conversion and engagement performance with their recruitment activity through vercida.com.
Thales UK has really set the standard in how to run engaging and effective candidate attraction campaigns through social media. They achieved an incredible 78.5% engagement on social media. Meaning that, through targeting of specific diverse individuals, for every 100 people who saw their campaign, 78 of them either commented, liked, shared or clicked on that campaign.
